Yotta Energy is developing a modular energy storage device, SolarLEAF™; battery storage integrated with photovoltaic (PV) installation designed to reduce cost and expand the development of energy storage and grid resiliency on commercial buildings. SolarLEAF™ will expand solar energy use by reducing the soft costs of designing, installing, and maintaining an energy storage system compared to traditional centralized systems.

THE IMPACT

SolarLEAF™ will expand solar energy use by reducing the soft costs of designing, installing and maintaining an Energy Storage System significantly as compared to a traditional centralized storage system. Yotta Energy’s technology can be remotely designed, does not occupy ground real-estate, and can be retrofitted on PV systems. Distributed solar and storage technology play a huge role in providing revenue streams for both the utility and the system owners, helping offset peak demand and load shifting, leading to reduced electricity rates and increased resiliency with backup power. Learn more by visiting their website https://www.yottaenergy.org/.

HOW IN2 IS HELPING

NREL will assist Yotta Energy primarily in the area of technology validation. NREL proposes to characterize the technology’s performance as compared to a baseline unit, first in a laboratory environmental chamber, subjected to a range of ambient conditions, and then potentially in an outdoor installation.
